Utupay (we, us, our) is a digital solution that expands users control over their money. We make it easier for merchants to receive secured payments in Nigeria and from other countries through the software and services we provide. The services we provide also makes it possible for merchants to transfer money and pay for services in both local and foreign currencies within their local jurisdiction.

 

We do not assume legality or claim to have control over the products and services that are paid for with our software, nor do we guarantee that a buyer or seller will fulfill their transaction.

 

Our Terms and Condition spells out our responsibilities to you, as it is an agreement between you and Us. This agreement tries to list out the risk inherent with using our services, so we advice you to carefully study it, as it is binding to you through the use of our services.

Our software, website and services and not intended for people who are below 18 years of age. We do not out of intent provide our services to people who are below 18 years of age.

Utupay collects certain information of our users that makes them identifiable. These users include employees (past, current and future), merchants, vendors, personal user account holders, merchant customers, or any other individual that deals with Utupay either individually or severally.

 

To have the right access to our software, website and other services, a user must register for an account with Utupay. The personal identifiable information we collect during registration are given by you freely. Utupay complies with the applicable data protection laws, regulations, rules and principles to ensure security of personal information we handle.

When you fund your digital wallet on our software, we collect and store your card information, email address, phone number. The reason we collect personal information is only for identifiable purposes and your consent was given freely. Such personal information cannot be used or reused for another purpose. In a case where a personal information will be required for a purpose other than to identify a particular user, such a purpose will be communicated and your consent given.

 

This is an added layer of security we added to our software to ensure maximum security when using our services. This bio-metric option is available to mobile and handheld devices that are capable of providing bio-metric security features, and for users whose mobile devices do not offer bio-metric security protection, they are required to keep their account safe by using the PIN option. A bio-metric or PIN clearance is needed to gain access to our software and every time a transaction needs to be completed on our software.

 

2FA is an added layer of security that we added to your account to keep you safe when using our services. You will be required to input an OTP (One Time Password) which is a verification code that will be sent to you for authentication purposes. 2FA is required when checking out of a merchants’ website using Utupay. Note that this option is optional and should you choose to opt out of this, you agree not to hold Utupay liable for any loss incurred as a result of your action.

 

Utupay shall continually adopt the right protocols needed to protect the confidentiality of your information. We adopt both physical and digital measures to ensure that your information is protected and not compromised either intentionally or otherwise.

Because we are committed to managing your information in line with industry best practices, we adopt physical, technical and administrative security measures to mitigate the risk of loss, unauthorized access, alteration, misuse, and disclosure of your information. Some of the technical measures we are taking to ensure your data protection are firewalls, data encryption, digital level access, physical level access.

Employees may have access to personal contact information of users but they are forbidden from misusing this privileged information in any way other than for their intended purposes.

 

We may disclose your personal information but only in compliance with applicable law or a legal obligation to which we are bound. We do not sell, rent, lease or trade your personal information to anyone. Notwithstanding, we may share your personal information with trusted, verifiable third parties whose services include: payment gateway, payment processors, financial institutions, identity verification services, and any other third party that you have authorized to receive your personal information all for the purpose of providing you a better service.

Kindly note that merchants, vendors and other forms of users using our services to receive payment may have their own privacy policy, so we encourage you to go through them. Although, we do not permit merchants, vendors, and other forms of users to share your personal information through our terms and conditions, Utupay cannot be held liable for their actions and data protection practices.
